Why school canteens struggle with the lunch window
A school canteen has 30 minutes to feed 200-500 students. Queues form within the first 5 minutes and remain for 15. Some students never reach the front of the queue and skip lunch.
Cash handling is risky (younger students lose money, theft happens). Allergen visibility is poor (parents do not know what their child actually bought).
What MenuBase does for school canteens
Students (or parents) scan the QR code to pre-order from the next day's menu. Allergens tagged on every item. Payment via DuitNow QR or Touch n Go eWallet.
At lunch, students collect their pre-ordered food in a fast-track lane. Walk-up customers continue to be served normally.
Parents see spending reports per student per week. Allergen-restricted students cannot order items they are flagged against.
What MenuBase does NOT do for school canteens today
MenuBase does not integrate with school administrative systems (PowerSchool, MySchoolDB, JPN systems). Student lists and allergen flags are maintained in the MenuBase dashboard by the canteen operator.
MenuBase does not handle nutritional reporting beyond the allergen tags. Detailed nutritional analysis requires the canteen's own systems.
